Valentine's Day, February 14th, is really a fun day for both young and outdated! It is a day to believe of those we love and celebrate friendship and kindness. It was 1 of my preferred winter holidays when the children were younger as I loved all the hoopla of the parties in college, Scouts and Sunday College. It was a break from the winter doldrums! I beloved going to the store to let them every choose out their own Valentine's. Back then “computer printables” were not within the vocabulary, if you are able to believe it! We bought the old fashioned boxed cards that you tore apart on the perforated lines. They beloved to choose out their own themes, be in Ninja Turtles, Super Heroes, Care Bears, or Cabbage Patch Kids. Yes, I'm definitely dating myself as I think again on those decades! Then we would get boxes and each 1 would wrap and decorate their own personal mailboxes! As Valentines started arriving from relatives; into the box they would go till Valentines Day!
In our home, we always added a component of giving towards the day. We would bake and deliver house made cookies to elderly neighbors. We'd collect coins in a big decorated Valentines Time jug that we had decorated after shortly after Christmas and have enjoyable viewing it grow. On Valentines Day we would count the coins and determine where we would donate the monies. 1 yr it was the local volunteer Fire Department as my son thought because the trucks had been red and Santa always visited the town using the firemen each year, that they should get the gift. We created presents for all the grandparents, which are still about today at Grandma and Grandpa's house!Funny valentines day We tried to make the children focus about the suggestions of loving and caring in addition to the fun of receiving.
More than the years we have carried out different things to celebrate about the actual day but their all time favorite was the “Sweet Treat” specific. From your time they received up, they could eat their meal in whatever purchase they wanted. I put all of the food out about the table from primary program to desserts and they could eat it in whatsoever purchase they wanted! Most likely the absolute worst idea ever and I would most most likely be scolded by nutritionists and pediatricians alike, but they are all grown now and no worse for that wear and it continues to be 1 of their favorite Valentines Day memories!
As they received older, my husband and I began to possess adult Valentine's Day parties. Sometimes it was out to dinner with pals then again to our home for dessert. Other times it had been a cocktail party or even a desserts and drinks gathering. We would usually cap the night off having a fun game and I truly think that was the highlight of the party.
